Hi, I’m Toban Penner — a web designer and developer based in Durham, NC, and the guy behind Penner Web Design. Here’s the short version: I build fast, beautiful WordPress sites that actually earn their keep — and I rescue the ones that are quietly costing you customers.
You don’t need another faceless agency that disappears after launch and bills you for every email. You need one person who picks up the phone, learns your business, and treats your website like it’s his own. That’s me. When something breaks, you text me — not a ticket queue.
At heart, I’m a problem solver who loves turning chaos into clarity. I live for the moment a website just clicks — technically sound, visually striking, and genuinely useful for the people who land on it.
AI has become my secret weapon. It lets me solve problems faster and take on work that used to be too expensive to even attempt. You get senior-level results, custom solutions, and a turnaround the big shops can’t touch.
When I’m not in WordPress, you’ll find me camping, playing pickleball, or hanging out with my family — my wife Kate Bowler (author and Duke professor) and our son Zach.

Things I Love

My son Zachary. He’s not afraid to be himself, and I love that. His hobbies change weekly, but he takes after his mom with his big heart, curiosity, and love of life.
Adventure. I’m married to a professor and I work from anywhere — so I’m usually working from somewhere fun.

Other things I’m into at the moment? Pickleball (yes, this is what it has come to), Hockey, Golf, Fitness, Guitar, Friends and Family. I love Canada AND America — but my first love is Canada.
