An Editorial Website for a Chapel Hill Civic Tech Startup

Civic Trust Builder is a civic tech social enterprise in Chapel Hill building an app for non-binding “Civic Voting”: a way for voters to weigh in on issues between elections, and for politicians to hear what their constituents actually think. It is a big, idea-driven mission, and the website had to explain it clearly to very different audiences: voters, change-agent politicians, and potential proof-of-concept partners.

We designed an editorial, newspaper-inspired look with a navy and gold palette, confident serif headlines, and a drop-cap mission statement, so the site reads with the seriousness of its subject. The content is organized into focused pages (People First!, Civic Voting, Building Trust, Voters Agree, Team, and an FAQ), and the research behind the idea, from Pew, Gallup, Marist, and the Harvard Youth Poll, is presented as scannable data points instead of walls of text.

The site runs on WordPress with Kadence blocks and Gravity Forms, so the founders can update pages themselves as the startup grows. We built many of the page sections with AI-assisted block layouts, which let us try several arrangements of a content-heavy page quickly, then refine the winner by hand.
