How I speed up a WordPress site
- Measure. I test key pages with Google PageSpeed Insights and real-visitor Core Web Vitals data, and profile the server side to see where the time actually goes.
- Fix images. Resize, compress, convert to modern formats like WebP, lazy-load what is below the fold, and replace any giant originals.
- Set up caching properly. Page caching, browser caching, and a CDN where it helps, configured for your hosting and your plugins.
- Trim plugins and scripts. Remove what you do not need, replace heavy plugins with lighter options, and load the rest only on pages that use them.
- Tune the server side. Current PHP, database cleanup, and hosting settings, or an honest recommendation if your hosting is the problem.
- Verify and report. Every change is tested on a copy of your site first. You get a plain-English summary with before-and-after numbers.
